Louisiana Equine Council 3rd Annual Fun Ride
The Louisiana Equine Council Third Annual Fun Ride will be held March 27 at Cane Camp in Kisatchie National Forest. Ride out will be 9:30am and lunch will be 1:30pm. Negative Coggins is required. Everyone is welcome! Member ride free, non-members pay $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. There is also a $5 ride fee to Kisatchie for Sandstone Trails for all. Cane Camp is a primitive horse camp with running water, tie lines and improved restrooms.

Merryville Heritage Festival
The Merryville Historical Society sponsors the Merryville Heritage Festival on March 27 in Merryville, LA. Gates open at 9am. One of the largest community events in Beauregard Parish. Tour the Burks Log Cabin built in 1863 and the Old Merryville Jail built in 1912. Events include a parade, Miss Merryville Pageant, annual chili cook-off, native-American Dancing, gospel music entertainers and more. Vendors and exhibitors will also be set up. Spring Fling at Hodges Garden
Hodges Gardens State Park will celebrate the first day of Spring on Saturday, March 20. Everyone is invited to come and usher in the new blooming season during a celebration sponsored by the Friends of Hodges Gardens State Park. The fun-filled day begins with a 5K run and the "Loop Run" at 8 am. Through out the day, guided hikes will be given of the newly re-opened Wild Azalea and Longleaf Pine Stump hiking trails. Louisiana artists will showcase their work, custom and antique cars will be on display, vendors will be set up to provide food & refreshments, and there will be live music on the Lakefront Stage. The Sportsman Club in DeRidder 4th Annual Historic Tour Destination, Washington D.C. fund-raising must be complete by April 30. This trip involves taking area students in grades 10-12. The trip will cost $600 per student. Donations are being accepted. You may sponsor a student and they will assist you in the fund-raising or they will do odd jobs to earn trip money. 2010 Jasper Air Show
2010 Japer Air Show will be Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21. Gates open at 8am at the Jasper County Bell Field Airport just west of Jasper, TX. Great family fun. Static displays of modern, vintage military and civilian aircraft. Lots of stunt flyers and unique planes. Great food items. A B-52 Bomber from Barksdale AFB will do a fly-over.
